Plum Market Kitchen to open in University Circle’s Uptown district
Urban-market concept known for all-natural, organic and locally crafted items

CLEVELAND (July 1, 2020)—Detroit-based Plum Market and Bon Appétit Management Co. have partnered with Case Western Reserve University to bring a new urban-market concept featuring all-natural, organic and locally sourced food, beverage and wellness items to University Circle.

Plum Market Kitchen, operated by Bon Appetit, will open in January in the redesigned and extensively remodeled Uptown space formerly occupied by Constantino’s at 11473 Euclid Ave. Case Western Reserve is the leaseholder.

“The addition of Plum Market to the Uptown retail district brings an innovative, health-conscious grocery and dining operation to serve the university’s faculty, staff and students as well as the University Circle community,” said Richard Jamieson, vice president for Campus Services at Case Western Reserve. “This new operation, made possible through our strong partnership with Bon Appetit, will provide an excellent dining venue while meeting the vital grocery needs of area shoppers.” Plum Market, with multiple format locations in Michigan, Illinois and Indiana, was hand-selected for its legacy of quality and innovation in the natural grocery sector. The company is known for all-natural groceries, apothecary and wellness items, and its wine and beer selection. The new 12,000-square-foot market also includes a coffee bar with a full line of freshly brewed coffee drinks and teas.

The company’s signature recipe collection of grab-and-go options, featuring hot meals, fresh salads, fresh sushi, all-natural soups and made-to-order signature sandwiches, are chef-crafted on site from all-natural and peak-of-season ingredients. “We are thrilled to open this location here in Uptown,” said Matt Jonna, Plum Market’s founder and CEO. “We’re offering something that we feel is very special and want to share that with those who live, work and visit the campus community. We’re excited to bring our continued and trusted partnership with Bon Appetit to Cleveland.” Locally sourced products are the major focus of Plum Market’s retail collection and include packaged snacks, frozen items, artisan-baked goods, and specialty candies. The offerings also include a selection of vitamins and supplements, natural skin and body care, and locally crafted goods.

Plum Market serves its brand of lifestyle essentials to millions of guests per year across multiple formats that include full-service grocery stores, urban-store concepts and cafeteria partnerships. The company has found a niche among college-town audiences that include Butler University in Indianapolis and Oakland University in Detroit.
