6:30 Reception, 7pm Seated Seminar

Morey-Saint-Denis wines are among the greatest in Burgundy. Sporting many 1er Crus, it also hosts five of the most sought-after Grands Crus in the world with Clos de Tart, Bonnes Mares, Clos de la Roche, Clos Saint-Denis and Clos des Lambrays. The balance of Morey-Saint-Denis wines, between red and black fruits, floral scents, round tannins and earthiness, ethereal while structured to age for decades, is what puts Morey-Saint-Denis among the firmament of great wines.

A reference in the appellation, Domaine Hubert Lignier dates back to the late 19th century. Now the fifth generation, Laurent Lignier will be visiting Chicago on Monday, March 11, and will give us the immense pleasure to present some of his 2015, as well as the current 2016 vintage at Plum Market Old Town. We will explore several of Laurent’s Morey-Saint-Denis, as well as his terroir-specific Bourgogne Rouge Grand Chaliot and a Gevrey-Chambertin. His wines are generous, dense, complex and intensely aromatic with round tannins. This is a unique opportunity to meet the farmer, the winemaker, and the descendant of a long winemaking tradition in Burgundy.
