Aromas of lemon, currant, clove and mint; slightly rustic. Then fresh and frothy, with a strong mousse. Distinctly floral suggestion of rose petal to go with the berry flavors. Rather lacy for a wine from this house; not as weighty as some past releases of this wine. But boasts plenty of extract, and a generous, firm finish.
Wine Spectator - "Well-knit and balanced, with vibrant acidity framing hints of blackberry, white cherry, biscuit, honey and candied lemon zest. Offers a lightly smoky finish."
James Suckling - "This is a bold style of NV with plenty of deep-set aromatic complexity - think toasted almond, citrus blossom, honey and dried spices. The palate has fleshy depth and drive with bold stone fruit flesh and a rich phenolic presence to anchor the finish. Richness ahead of subtlety. "
Stephen Tanzer - "Light gold. Musky orchard fruits and dried fig on the mineral-accented nose. Fleshy and broad on the palate, offering smoky pear and nectarine flavors and a hint of honey. Finishes on a gently spicy note, with very good cling and a touch of bitter lemon pith. Things have definitely begun to turn around for this bottling, which had been lagging behind the winery's vintage offerings for some time."
