Tom Celani is a beloved figure in our wine and hospitality community – we’re very proud that this very successful Napa Valley winery owner calls Metro Detroit home. Completely confident in the quality of Celani Family Vineyards, Tom is ready to put his entire line-up of wines up against top French counterparts! The comparison will be a blind tasting, and all voting will be anonymous.

Celani Rosé vs. French Rosé

Celani Chardonnay vs. White Burgundy

‘Robusto’ Merlot & ‘Tenacious’ (Bordeaux blend) vs. Right Bank Bordeaux

Celani Cabernet Sauvignon vs. Left Bank Bordeaux

We’ll taste 10 wines in total, and attendees will vote anonymously for their personal preferences. If Team Celani prevails, Tom and Vicki Celani will donate $1000 to Hunger in the D, founded by the Celanis to provide meals to the homeless in Detroit. If Team France pulls ahead, $1000 will go to the Dynami Foundation, supporting breast cancer research. Either way, the community will benefit greatly from the Celanis’ generosity and a great time will be had by all!

6565 Orchard Lake Road, West Bloomfield, MI

Limited Tickets Available | Register Online
Tickets $30

Come hone your tasting skills! We’ll present 12 terrific wines covering the leading noble grape varieties: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Syrah. You’ll taste two examples of each, strolling through the stations at your own pace. You’ll vote for New World (the Americas & Down Under) vs. Old World (Europe), but will also vote for price point. And, we’ll throw in Champagne vs. Sparkling for fun! Plenty of useful hints will be given by our team throughout this blind tasting, emphasizing the fun of deduction – Is this a French Red Burgundy or an Oregon Pinot Noir? Could this wine be a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, or is it Sancerre? This is a great opportunity to recognize key grape varieties, witness the influence of terroir (a growing region’s stamp), and to identify quality levels. Nifty prizes will be distributed to the tasters with the best scores!
