2007 Dom Ruinart Brut Rose Champagne
Winemaker Notes:Dom Ruinart Rosé 2007 is an exceptional vintage which owes its rarity to its selection of grands crus: 80% Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs (Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Chouilly) and the Montagne de Reims (Sillery, Verzenay) blended with 20% Pinot Noir vinified in red, from the only Grand Cru of Aÿ. The originality of this blend, largely dominated by Chardonnay, gives this wine remarkable freshness.
Tasting Notes: This vintage is a wine of character, chiseled and dynamic. On the nose, it blends notes of roasting with aromas of ripe citrus fruits. On the palate, Chardonnay brings straightness and freshness. The finish, nicely structured and with contained power, lets Pinot Noir express itself with a fine bitterness underlined by the low dosage.
The first nose reveals a warm and sunny register with notes of roasting, coffee and cocoa bean which mingle with aromas of candy apple and ripe citrus fruits such as mandarin, blood orange, and kumquat.
The palate, initially marked with a frank and straight mark, gives way to notes of plum and hibiscus, which are complemented by hints of fully ripe citrus fruits such as blood orange. The 2007 vintage has a sappy profile, supported by a nice freshness on the finish.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Wine Enthusiast - "While the aroma suggests this is an old wine, the palate discloses a very good balance between fruit and toasty maturity. It is a great Champagne, less of a rosé now and more of a rich, intense wine. Drink now while that attractive balance is there."
