2014 Vieux Telegraphe ‘La Crau’ Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge
Winemaker Notes: The rainy 2014 vintage gave an elegant, silky Vieux Télégraphe rouge that is an absolute delight to enjoy in its youth. Other editions of this fabled Rhône red may be bigger, more concentrated, and longer-lived, but this 2014 is a real treat for those who enjoy delicacy and finesse in their Châteauneuf.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Vinous - "Vivid ruby. Intense red and dark berry aromas are complemented by peppery spice, garrigue and floral pastille notes. Sappy and precise on the palate, offering concentrated, vivacious black raspberry, cherry cola and spicecake flavors. Supple, harmonious tannins build steadily on the very long, seamless finish, which leaves behind lavender and juicy dark berry notes." (2.16)
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "The flagship 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape is medium-bodied, silky and elegant, with pretty notes of raspberries, crushed rocks, ground herbs and sappy flowers. It plays in the medium-bodied style of the vintage, yet has terrific elegance, as well as a tight, energetic style, fine tannin and impeccable balance. Drink it anytime over the coming decade or so."
