2015 Paolo Bea 'Rosso de Veo' IGT Sagrantino Umbria
Organic
Winemaker Notes: This inky yet juicy bottle is produced from 45 to 50-day macerated Sagrantino at the hands of one of Umbria's greatest winemakers. Fruit for 'Rosso de Veo' is aged for three years (two in steel/one in oak) prior to release, which allows the wine to harmoniously integrate. Dry, gritty, and noted with red fruit flavors, this bottle is perfect for serving with classically robust Italian recipes.
One of the oldest wineries in Montefalco, Azienda Agricola Paolo Bea is run by a family whose roots go back to the 1500s. Producing traditional, earthy Montefalco wines, Paolo Bea is one of the leading estates of the appellation. This is a dense but rigorous wine, a forceful wine but one that has an athletic structure and exhibits excellent balance and length. Bea's Sagrantino is charged with abundant notes of wild berries and plums and is layered with a multitude of spices, herbs, and notes of game.
