2015 Perrier Jouet 'Belle Epoque' Champagne
Winemaker Notes: A pale gold, clear and luminous, like the rising sun. Delicate aromas of fruit – vine peach and poached pear – and linden and hawthorn blossom. Notes of juicy vine peach lend a fine texture, complemented by poached pear and tangy rhubarb. A combination of freshness, balance and tension. A rare and harmonious champagne.
Blend: 50% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir, 5% Meunier
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Wine Enthusiast - "White fruit and honeysuckle aromas give the latest vintage of this iconic Champagne an impressively fresh character. Apples and just a touch of toast are reinforced by the gentle dosage of the wine. Drink now." (RV 10.24)
Tasting Panel - "Golden straw color. Aromas and flavors of creme brulee, dried apricot, brioche, and marzipan and apple with a velvety, lively, finely carbonated, dryish medium body and a tingling, captivating, medium-length finish that exhibits overtones of lemongrass, yellow apple and orange zest, almond flower with honeycomb, and white tea. Complex and layered, this gem is drinking incredibly well now and will likely adapt and improve over the next decade or so in your cellar if you have the patience to wait to pop it." (4.24)
Wine Spectator - "An elegant Champagne, with a satinlike mousse, offering a bright burst of Meyer lemoninfused acidity as a backbone for finely meshed notes of poached apricot and pear, brioche, candied ginger and chopped almond. Pretty and floral on the finish. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Drink now through 2035."
