2016 Chateau de Sales Pomerol
Winemaker Notes: An attractive, deep ruby red, the wine has a highly complex nose which opens up with airing on notes of black berry fruit such as bilberry and blackberry. Fresh and well-balanced on the palate, it is full-bodied and displays attractively complex flavors, especially black fruit, with a touch of oak. A wine with good ageing potential, its well-integrated and silky tannins give it a remarkable finish.
Blend: 79.5% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7.5% Cabernet Franc
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Wine Enthusiast - "At this stage, this wine is all about the tannins that dominate the black fruits. But fruit weight is there, promising good things as the wine matures. Smoky wood and blackberry flavors are set against a solid structure. There is potential here, so let the wine soften and mature. Drink from 2024."
James Suckling - "A very nicely integrated wine with attractive blue fruit and slate-like, savory elements, offering a complete impression on both nose and palate. Drink or hold."
