In 1972, the pope of wine, Alexis Lichine, first made the estate’s second wine under its original label of Chateau de Clairefont, or as it is also called now, Confidences de Prieure-Lichine. This Margaux benefits from the same methods of harvesting, vinification, and follow-up as the Classified Growth. It is made with the grapes of younger vines and is aged in second and third-fill barrels for 14 months.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM

James Suckling - "The red fruit is very appealing here with a wealth of raspberries and mulberries, as well as redcurrant notes. The palate has attractively juicy and succulent red berries and a chalky, piercing finish.”

Vinous - "Pliant, supple and inviting, the Confidences is an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years…This is a strong showing."

Wine Spectator - "Layered, with plush flavors of plum, blackberry and black currant preserves offset by firmer charcoal, black tea leaf and warm stone notes. Approachable now but should mellow with mid-term cellaring. Drink now through 2020."
