2017 Ponzi 'Tavola' Pinot Noir Willamette Valley
WINEMAKER'S NOTES: Beautiful aromatics of blackberry, cinnamon stick, dried cranberry and cedar jump from the glass. The mouth is supple with strawberry, balsamic reduction, lavender, thyme and cocoa powder; finishing with soft tannins laced with black licorice.
Tasting Panel - "Cherry-red color; smooth, savory, and earthy with toast and good balance."
Wine Enthusiast - "Following a bit of a difficult vintage, the latest vintage of Ponzi's popular Tavola bottling seems a bit stiff and chewy. The wild berry fruit is somewhat hidden in flavors of bark and herb, and it takes a fair amount of aeration to open up the aromatics, revealing light hints of cedar, cinnamon and baking spices. Decanting is recommended."
