2017 Purlieu ‘Beckstoffer To Kalon’ Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
Winemaker Notes: Crafted by Wine Access-favorite Julien Fayard (whose Le Pich is one of our best-selling Cabernets of all time), the 2017 Purlieu Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet hails from Andy Beckstoffer’s 90-acre portion of To Kalon, the most famous 240 acres in all of Napa Valley.
All of Andy’s parcel is on the site planted by Hamilton Crabb between 1869 and 1891, and Fayard’s gorgeous 2017 represents the Beckstoffer plot in a dense and opaque purple Cabernet that opens to reveal blackberry preserves and crème de cassis with vanilla, clove, toast, baking chocolate, and allspice. It’s muscular and tightly packed, with the classic supple tannins for which Beckstoffer To Kalon is known. A beautiful expression of the most famed terroir in Napa Valley.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard offers up a beautiful perfume of fruit cake, preserved plums, potpourri and blackberry preserves with nuances of exotic spices and fragrant earth. The full-bodied, decadently fruited palate is nicely juxtaposed by fantastic freshness and plush tannins, supporting loads of black fruit and earthy layers, finishing long and spicy. 95+"
