Winemaker Notes: At the heart of the Saint-Péray appellation, just above the village with the same name, Marsannes vines, 80 years old and masters of the domain and the appellation, grow on a granite hillside with limestone deposits. The secret of their old age? Alain Voge uses biodynamic farming methods. Their grumes are harvested manually before vinification with their indigenous yeasts in oak barrels (30% new wood). Then, the wine is aged on the lees for 16 months which enhances its aromas, creaminess and roundness. An absolutely incredible aromatic bouquet abounds: yellow fruit, white flowers, toasted brioche, as well as small but directly opposed notes compatible with iodine and caramel. Surprising but divine!
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Vinous - "Green-tinged straw-gold. A highly complex bouquet evokes ripe citrus and pit fruits, along with suggestions of chamomile, jasmine and smoky minerals. Juicy, penetrating and chewy on the palate, offering intense, mineral-laced tangerine, pear nectar and honeysuckle flavors that deepen and spread out through the mid-palate. The mineral and floral notes drive a strikingly long, incisive finish that leaves a suave floral note behind."
