2018 Domaine Pierre Usseglio Blanc Chateauneuf-du-Pape
Madeline Triffon, MS Selection:"Really lovely, elegant style. Lifted and tender."
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "The 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is a blend of 70% Clairette, 25% Grenache Blanc and 5% Bourboulenc, most of which was made and matured in stainless steel. Twenty percent barrel-fermentation adds just a touch of honeyed richness to the pineapple and tangerine flavors in this medium to full-bodied effort. It finishes long, silky and refreshing."
Jeb Dunnuck - "The white from the terrific estate always gets overlooked, but it’s well worth seeking out. The lightly colored 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc (70% Clairette, 25% Grenache Blanc, and 5% Bourboulenc) was brought up in a mix of barrel and stainless steel. Crushed citrus, white flowers, salty minerality, and hints of white peach all emerge from this crisp, clean, concentrated white that has medium body, bright acidity, and a clean, crisp finish."
Wine Enthusiast - "Composed of 70% Clairette (supplemented by 25% Grenache Blanc and 5% Bourboulenc), this is a full-bodied but spry white that showcases pert lemon and grapefruit flavors. Wisps of honey and caramel lend softness to the midpalate and lead a long finish marked by a pleasant ring of bitters. Ready now but should improve through 2028."
