2018 Institution 'Erba' Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
Winemaker Notes: Combining seven blocks of this rocky mountain side vineyard spread across a 1200 foot change in elevation, this Cabernet Sauvignon quickly reveals its power and focus. Dark chocolate, espresso, and cigar box all support a core of blueberry and black licorice. Aged in 100% new French oak for 22 months, this wine offers amazing texture and mouthfeel that unveil the hedonistic nature of this rugged vineyard site. While this wine has the structure to age for decades, its polished tannins allow for it to be enjoyed in its youth.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Jeb Dunnuck - "Coming from a steep, higher elevation vineyard and made by Russell Bevan, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Erba Vineyard offers a smoky bouquet of ripe blackcurrants, smoke tobacco, chocolate, charred barrel, and rocky, earthy minerality. This rich, full-bodied, powerful 2018 has some chewy tannins and a dense, backward, mineral-laced style that's going to benefit from bottle age. Do your best to hide bottles for 3-5 years, and it should evolve for two decades." (1.21)
