2018 Jermann 'Where Dreams Have No End' Chardonnay Venezia Giulia
Jermann was founded in 1881 in the quiet village of Villanova di Farra by Austrian-born Anton Jermann. Today, the winery is led by Silvio Jermann, grandson of Anton, and Silvio’s son Michele. Silvio left Friuli in the 1970s to explore winemaking in other white wine regions. When he returned, he introduced stainless steel tanks and temperature controlled fermentations to preserve his wine's aromatic freshness and protect it from oxidation.
Where Dreams Have No End is produced at the Jermann's Ruttars winery is in the crescent-shaped Collio zone near the Slovenian border to the east. The vineyards are located in the area known as Ronco del Fortino, where therolling hills are composed of chalk and clay marl banded with sandstone and cooled by the Bora wind off the Adriatic Sea. A wide shift between day and nighttime temperatures endows wines from Collio with vibrant acidity and deeply-perfumed aromatics.

James Suckling - "This is always a very complex and complete white with cooked apples, pears, light lemon curd and vanilla. Hints of minerals. It’s full-bodied with a round, delicious palate. Beautiful, ripe fruit and length. Drinkable now, but better in 2022 and onwards. "
Wine Spectator - "There's a rich, toasty edge to this vibrant, medium-bodied white, enmeshed with flavors of ripe Jonagold apple and melon fruit. There's good drive, with a salty mineral undertow and accents of ground ginger, chopped hazelnut and orchard blossom rippling on the finish."
Wine Enthusiast - "Aromas of French oak, toast and yellow apple are front and center. Made predominantly with Chardonnay and aged in oak barrels, it has a smooth, elegant palate offering ripe pear, white peach, vanilla and butterscotch alongside fresh acidity."
