Winemaker Notes: In 775, Emperor Charlemagne donated this vineyard to a Catholic institution in Saulieu, which kept it for the next 1000 years! It is a true icon of the history of Burgundy. Perched on a hill, it’s the only grand cru that receives sunlight from morning to night.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM

Burghound - "This is the first wine to display any perceptible wood influence on the green apple compote that is laced with hints of lemon rind and mineral reduction. There is good energy if not great density to the energetic and mineral-inflected flavors that offers good length but only average depth. Given that this is fairly tightly wound more depth will probably develop with time in bottle. (89-92pts)"
