2018 Trimbach Riesling Alsace
Winemaker Notes: A beautiful straw color with green edges with a fine mineral fragrance of ginger and caraway seed under ripe pineapple and flowers. Flavors of white peach, quince and lemon on the palate with a lingering, clean and dry finish. Pairs perfectly with marinated or grilled fish and sushi.
WINEMAKING & VINTAGE NOTES The specific vineyard plots for Trimbach Riesling are selected each year by Pierre Trimbach. The grapes are normally harvested in late October and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel and concrete vats. There is no secondary malolactic fermentation in order to maintain as much natural acidity as possible. Bottles remain in the cellar for several years before reaching the marketplace, ensuring the wines are both ready to drink upon release but also hold great ageing potential.
Riesling is the most emblematic of Alsace grape varieties. Its delicate bouquet, the fine balance between its dry personality, its distinguished fruitiness and its natural vitality contribute to its exceptional richness. Riesling can be enjoyed throughout the meal, and also with Alsace specialties, shellfish, seafood, quality fish, sushi/sashimi, white meats in white wine sauces or spices, pork dishes and refined spicy or Asian dishes.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Wine Enthusiast - "Slight reduction still shows on the nose of this wine, but promises freshness. The palate comes in with uncommon brightness and slenderness for 2018 and seems to make a show of its uncompromising tartness, but there is concentration galore. The finish is dry and all about zesty citrus."
