2018 Vincent Girardin 'Les Narvaux' Meursault
Winemaker Notes: As of 2020, there will be 33 ha of vines under management divided between 14 ha owned and another 19 ha of leased vineyards. As such all of the wines will essentially be domaine wines in the sense that the all of the viticulture, vinification, élevage and bottling will be done in house. The vineyards are also in the process of being converted to certified 100% biodynamic viticulture. With respect to the 2018 vintage, Germain noted that "we picked from the 28th of August and brought in very clean and ripe fruit where the yields ranged from 38 to 40 hl/ha and the potential alcohols between 13 to 13.5%. I used between 10 and 60% whole clusters and neither chaptalized nor acidified anything. As to the wines, I find them to be quite refreshing despite how warm and dry the growing season was." I found the quality of the 2018 whites to be in general very good with a few outstanding wines as well.
Burghound - " Pungent aromas of matchstick, pear, apple, acacia and citrus give way to delicious and attractively textured medium weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the markedly citrus-inflected, dry and crisp finish that could accurately be described as crunchy."
