2019 Blason d'Issan Margaux
Winemaker Notes: Blason d’Issan, our second wine, was introduced from 1995 onwards to enable selection amongst our vines growing in the Margaux appellation area. Fruit from our youngest vines is used to produce this wine, which respects the identity of its terroir, while offering a tasty round fruitiness, which can be enjoyed earlier. Blason d’Issan is also aged in barrels for 14 to 16 months, one third of which are new. Annual production is around 120,000 bottles.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
James Suckling - "This is a really beautiful, seductive wine with chocolate, walnuts, currants and some tobacco. Full-bodied, with a supple tannin texture and a flavorful finish. Succulent. Blend of 60% merlot and 40% cabernet sauvignon. Second wine of d’Issan. Barrel Sample: 93-94"
Jeb Dunnuck - "Starting with the second wine of this terrific estate in Margaux, the 2019 Blason D'Issan reveals a saturated ruby/purple hue as well as a powerful, medium to full-bodied, concentrated style that does beautifully in the vintage. With plenty of cassis and black raspberry fruit and some background oak as well as floral and earthy, cedary notes, it's balanced, with ripe tannins and outstanding length. Barrel Sample: 89-91+"
