2019 Chateau de Pommard Clos Marey-Monge Monopole Pommard
Winemaker Notes: With its brilliant, bright ruby color and purple undertones, our Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2019 is a complex, generous and aromatic wine. The flattering nose reveals delicate powdery aromas along with notes of dried flowers, roses and red fruit, highlighted by peppery notes. The palate is fresh, round and generous, while the tannins are silky with a light sweetness. The very full and complex finish gives this wine power and grace. A great Pommard for aging, but one which can also be appreciated today.
With its array of celebrated sun-soaked vineyards and captivating sights, the village of Pommard is surround by ageless, timeless beauty. At it's heart, is Chateau de Pommard, a historic estate established in the early 18th century. The estate's walled Clos Marey-Monge is a 20 hectare monopole and a UNESCO heritage protected Burgundy climat, cultivating century-old vines. The distinct, but complementary, terroirs are farmed biodynamically, naturally fermented, and aged separately, creating wines of complexity, power, and grace.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Wine Enthusiast - "Cherry blossom, rose petal and freshly dug beetroot mingle into notes of raspberry preserves and Maraschino cherries in this perfumed blend of grapes from six plots within the walled Clos Marey-Monge monopole vineyard. A powerful but vibrantly cut expression of Pommard, it's packed with luscious red fruit lifted by streaks of redcurrant acidity and firm, fine-grained tannins. There's a lot of aging potential in this wine but it's also lovely in youth. "
