2019 Quinta Sardonia ‘Sardon’ Red Castilla y Leon
Winemaker Notes: Deep red with bold fruit. Full body, controlled tannins. Fruit is raspberry, blackberry, red currant, oak and vanilla. Medium purple in the glass. Dark fruit on the nose. Plum, dark cherry and blackberry with a little leather and oaky vanilla. While the 2019 was challenging vintage from a winemaker’s perspective, the 2019 Sardon is fresh, floral and light on the nose with pronounced notes of raspberries and other red forest fruit. On the palate, the wine is long, with good acidity and noticeable minerality. Subtle and juicy through to the finish, the lively, yet well-balanced tannins will make this wine one that will pair well with a variety of pasta dishes, bar-b-que and/or roasted meats, blue fish, cured or soft cheeses and of course, by itself right from the glass! Blend: 96% Tempranillo, 3% Garnacha and a 1% blend of Albillo, Syrah, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon
James Suckling - "A beautiful red with plum, berry and cherry aromas and flavors. Hints of spices, such as cloves. Medium body. Fresh and lightly chewy with a linear mouth feel. "
