2019 Tedeschi 'Marne 180' Amarone della Valpolicella Veneto
Winemaker Notes: Strong ruby red. Clear and transparent. Notes of vanilla and ethereal airs depending on the period of aging in the barrel; notes of sweet fruits such as currants, blueberries, cherries depending on the varieties of grapes. Wine with a velvety, raisiny character combined with the structure and typical stylish bitterness to give it good balance. It has an enduring and persistent flavor.
Pairs well with red meat and aged cheeses.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Decanter - "Sultry and rich aromas of plums, black cherries and chocolate with a slurry of balsamic intensity. Vast and complex with capacious tannins, an ample meaty texture and an embrace of pervading acidity. Very long with great typicity. *Platinum*"
Wine Enthusiast - "This lush yet well-balanced Amarone opens with aromas of black currant, wild blackberry dusted with wild herbs, sweet spices and pepper. Crushed black cherries, espresso and violet notes hold court on the structured palate, which is backed by a minerality and finishes with ripe tannins. "
James Suckling - "Almost coffee-stained dried red berries on the nose, following through to a full, silky palate with fine tannins that have sunk into the wine nicely, carrying the intense bead of berry and dark cherry fruit through a long finish. Sustainable. Drinkable now, but will improve in the bottle."
