2019 Vincent Girardin 'Les Genevrières 1er Cru' Meursault
Winemaker Notes: A very powerful and mineral wine. Fish, shellfish or creamy white meat.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "One of the highlights of this year's range is the 2019 Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrières, a striking wine that unfurls in the glass with notes of pear, crisp green apple and peach mingled with hints of smoke and fresh bread, framed by a deft touch of youthful reduction. Medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, it's concentrated and seamless, with lively acids and a long, chalky finish."
Vinous - "The 2019 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru comes from a 0.42-hectare parcel of 55-year-old vines. This is a step up in quality, delivering impressive, mineral-rich citrus fruit that conveys real vibrancy. The palate is well balanced with touches of praline and nectarine and a lovely build in the mouth while maintaining fine tension, leading to a spicy and quite persistent finish. This is a quality Genevrières that should age well over the next two decades. (92-94pts)"
Decanter - "A blend of two parcels: 0.45ha in Genevrières Dessous and 0.1ha in Genevrières-Dessus. The result is forward, aromatic and very ripe - almost tropical - with hints of spice. It is very rich but, after all, this is Meursault and while the texture is almost unctuous, for the appellation and vintage it is not inappropriate."
Burghound - "Much more elegant aromas are comprised by cool and overtly spicy white orchard fruit and acacia blossom. The sleek, intense and chiseled middle weight flavors exude a bracing bead of minerality onto the beautifully detailed, bone-dry and balanced finale. This classy effort is both lovely and promising. *Outstanding* (91-93pts)"
