2020 Chateau de Chamirey ‘Clos du Roi’ Premier Cru Mercurey Rouge Cote Chalonnaise
Winemaker Notes: Beautiful dark garnet-red color with purple tints. The nose is intense and empyreumatic with mild spices notes as cinnamon and nutmeg. Grassy and red fruits notes. On the palate the wine is ample with red fruits notes. Cinnamon and nutmeg notes. Silky tanins.
This wine will marvelously pair with peppered rib roast, beef filet mignon, lamb shoulder or rack of pork and cheeses as Tomme des Bauges.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Burghound - "A very ripe nose offers up liqueur-like aromas of black cherry, cassis and menthol. The supple and lavishly rich medium-bodied flavors coat the palate with sappy dry extract while exhibiting slightly better depth and persistence on the slightly rustic finish. Once again, there is a touch of warmth but it's not so much as to materially detract from the overall sense of balance. (89-92pts)"
