2020 Kumusha 'Hurudza' Red Blend Western Cape
Winemaker Notes: Intense nose of black currant, dark plums, blackberries, and a hint of tomato leaf. Rich palate with fine-grained tannins, underpinned with a mouthwatering core.
Kumusha in the Zimbabwean Shona language translates to 'your home', 'your roots', or 'your origin'. World renowned sommelier, Tinashe Nyamudoka believes the best wines are representative of their region. Through a collaborative process with respect to the vine, the winemaker, and the consumer, Tinashe is building a brand of wines that represent and honor your roots. Using a minimal intervention approach and natural fermentation, Tinashe's aim is to let the wine be free to do the talking of its origin and to provide a model for Black wine entrepreneurs to follow.
85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot from Stellenbosch. The grapes are hand harvested in the morning and transported to the cellar where only the best grapes are stored and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine is gently pumped twice daily until dry, and then pressed. Malolactic fermentation occurs in tank, and after completion, the wine is racked of its lees and transferred to a select of new-, second-, and third-fill barrels. After 18 months barrel aging, the wine is blended and bottled. Vegan friendly.
