2020 Left Foot Charley 'Terminal Moraine Vineyard' Riesling Old Mission Peninsula
Winemaker Notes: For those who have been among the LFC faithful for a while, you may remember the last time we made a single vineyard Terminal Moraine Dry Riesling - in 2012! Since then, we have been patiently working with this site, waiting for a vintage like 2020 to make a return.
The Terminal Moraine vineyard is a 1.5 acre site grown by the Reehorst family on their home property. The land has two distinct soil types: a sandy loam top layer atop a layer of clay and gravel, a result of the ice age glaciers which cut through to create the Old Mission Peninsula, leaving behind the so-called "terminal moraine." These two personalities blend to make a structured wine with fat peach and apricot qualities and a stony acid finish. We have aged this wine for one year prior to its release, and it will continue to evolve for many more years.
