2020 Leviathan Red Blend by Andy Erickson California
Leviathan is a red wine of the vintage from legendary winemaker Andy Erickson, the former winemaker for Screaming Eagle. With two 100pt wines and numerous additional accolades under his belt, Andy is recognized as one of Napa’s premier winemakers. Leviathan began in 2004 as a passion project. Andy wanted to take all of his winemaking experience and vineyard knowledge from around California and create a single red wine that was free from the restraints of appellations and varietals. This is winemaking without restriction.
Our proprietary blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Cabernet Franc highlight some of my favorite growing regions in northern California: Coombsville, Carneros, Red Hills, Moon Mountain, Fountaingrove, and the Sierra Foothills.
Sourcing: Cabernet Sauvignon (Red Hills, Moon Mountain) Syrah (Dry Creek Valley) Cabernet Franc (Los Carneros) Merlot (Moon Mountain, Coombsville)
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
James Suckling - "Lots of black olive, tar and asphalt with black fruit. Medium to full body with firm and linear tannins that run the length of the wine. This is a multi-region blend with a large percent from Sonoma.
