2020 Podere Il Palazzino 'Argenina' Gran Selezione Chianti Classico Tuscany
Winemaker Notes: Over the past few years, Podere il Palazzino has become our go-to producer for all things Tuscan and risen to become our top-selling Tuscan producer! Owned by the Sderci family since the mid-19th century, wine production is a newer venture, having been started in the 1970s when Alessandro and Andrea Sderci took over management of the farm. (Olive oil being the primary livelihood till then.) The style has always been traditional, but the next generation – Alessandro’s children Edoardo and Valentina, along with Andrea’s daughter Claudia – has lent modern education to enhance the overall product. Here we have a fabulous Chianti Classico from one of their smallest vineyards, 3 hectares of land in the hamlet of Argenina. Located in the Monti sub-zone of Gaiole, the wine is noted for its depth and structure.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Vinous - "The 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Argenina is fabulous. It captures all the character of Sangiovese from Gaiole's Monti district in its potent, ample style. Readers will find a wine of tremendous personality that rivals the best Sangioveses from throughout Tuscany. Dark red-toned fruit, rose petal, mint and white pepper are all amplified in this big, dense wine. Superb."
