2021 Chateau de Chamirey ‘Clos du Roi’ Premier Cru Rouge Mercurey
Winemaker Notes: Beautiful dark garnet-red colour with purple tints. The nose is intense and empyreumatic with mild spices notes as cinnamon and nutmeg. Grassy and red fruits notes. On the palate the wine is ample with red fruits notes. Cinnamon and nutmeg notes. Silky tanins.
Terroir:
Our vineyard of Clos du Roi is divided into 4 adjacent plots planted between 1970 and 2002.
Total area: 3,089 hectares (7,629 acres)
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Burghound - "Much like the Clos de la Maladière, the pungent nose of moderate wood and smoky reduction pushes the underlying fruit to the background. By contrast there is good freshness and verve to the caressing but punchy medium-bodied flavors that terminate in a robust, powerful and lingering finish that flirts with austerity. (89-92pts)"
