2021 Mulderbosch 'Faithful Hound' Red Blend Stellenbosch

Winemakers Notes: Mulderbosch Faithful Hound celebrates the virtues of Bordeaux’s great tradition of blending. Aside from investing considerable effort in their own vineyards in close proximity to False Bay, their quest to find the perfect sites for each of the five varieties used in the blend led them from cooler sites to the rich, shale soils of Bottelary. The goal with each bottling of Faithful Hound is to produce a rich, complex wine that comfortably expresses old world class and the generosity of fruit associated with Stellenbosch.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "The 2021 Faithful Hound, an intricate blend of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17.5% each of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec, showcases a vibrant array of red fruit, including tart cherry and supple plums. The wine is beautifully interlaced with notes of nettle, tar, savory herbs, earthy florals, pepper and spices, adding depth and a fresh, gripping tannic edge. This well-balanced blend aged 18 months in French oak barrels, with 6% new oak. Rating: 89+"
