Winemaker Notes: A young and immediately drinkable wine: ruby red color with violet tints. Delicate aromas of plum and Morello cherry. Robust and full-bodied in the mouth, slightly tannin-rich with a dry and flavorful finish. Pair with pasta with meat sauces, roast white and red meat, chicken and rabbit chasseur, mixed grills.

Madeline Triffon, M.S. - "A stunningly steal! This utterly delish Italian red manages to be rich, ripe, earthy and polished, all in the same mouth-filling sip. Extracted color stains the glass, and the fruit mimics juicy red and black plums, laced with anise. The dusty tannins are nicely drying, and the wine still tastes fresh, reflecting the sun and breezes off of Italy’s east coast. No muddy or hot flavors, a common problem in this category. Great fruit matched by fine winemaking – an exceptional buy in its class!

“Montepulciano” is a red grape that dominates Italy’s east coast, and has nothing to do with Tuscany’s Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Here it’s grown in Abruzzo, a mountainous region with Adriatic breezes moderating the heat. Its deep color and robust tannins are hallmarks of its wines. The Bianchi-Bernetti family owns over 500 acres spread over 115 miles, between the hills and the sea along the coast. Farming is certified organic. The winery is named after founder Gino Umani Ronchi, who started a small farm in the Marche in the 1950’s."
