2022 Domaine Jean-Paul & Benoît Droin Chablis
Winemaker Notes: Our Chablis Village wine is a perfect introduction to the minerality of Chablis wines. During the first three years, the wine shows itself as generous and lively, with notes of lemon, oyster shell and flint. After 10 years or more, the aromas become far more powerful, with notes of gun-flint and undergrowth. In the great vintages, it can be kept for more than 20 years. As an aperitif, it will go very well with "gougère" cheese-puff pastries or cold meats. As a starter, it will be perfect with a fish terrine or seafood.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Vinous - "The 2022 Chablis Village has a crisp, focused bouquet with hints of pressed white flowers and wet stone. The elegant palate has flecks of white peach and apricot, balanced and lovely with a charming, precise finish. This is very capable and should age well in bottle. (89-91pts)"
Burghound - "Smoky aromas of shellfish and Granny Smith apples gives way to more voluminous flavors that enjoy better acid support on the balanced and sneaky long finish. This isn't exactly classic in style but it's close and is a wine that offers fine quality for its level. *Burghound Top Value!* (89-91pts)"
