2022 Maison Saint AIX Rosé Coteaux d'Aix en Provence 1.5L
Winemaker Notes: A fragrant and well-balanced wine, AIX's hypnotizing salmon pink color reveals a fruity freshness. The nose is delightfully fragrant with delicate balance and crisp acidity. Enjoy the notes of soft, ripe summer fruits particularly watermelon and strawberries.
The 2022 vintage was the driest year in France since records began 500 years ago. Thankfully the high elevation and sustainable wine-growing practices of Maison Saint Aix mitigated much of the impact. 2022 started with a cold and dry January, which resulted in a later budburst than usual. Luckily, the shoots subsequently grew rapidly as spring was generally dry and warm. Flowering occurred in a perfect weather window with little wind, resulting in good fruit set. The summer was one of extreme dryness. Thankfully, late rains in August rejuvenated the vines and canopy, and the cooler nights maintained good acidity. The grapes show good acidity and are well-balanced. Yields are slightly lower than in previous years however, the quality is once again outstanding.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Tasting Panel - "From Maison Saint Aix, the Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault grapes for this stunning pink sipper sit on a non-irrigated plateau at 1,400 feet elevation. Key lime, a juicy slice of watermelon, and a steely undertone bring this rosé to life. Creamsicle tones the finish with an inner light."
James Suckling - "A medium-bodied fruity rosé. with lots of peach, melon and grapefruit aromas. Round and creamy with a velvety finish. Drink now."
