2023 Pewsey Vale 'Single Vineyard Estate' Dry Riesling Eden Valley
Winemaker Notes: Pale straw in color with green hues. Intense aromas reminiscent of fine dried herbs, white flowers, lemons and limes. Shows great length and depth on the palate with grapefruit and limes, fresh rosemary, white pepper and a hint of tropical fruit. The wine finishes with a soft natural acidity which balances the flavor intensity and a minerality that will reward medium to long-term cellaring.
Enjoy with seared scallops, salt and pepper squid, or a Thai noodle salad.
Elevated above the Barossa Valley on undulating land, Eden Valley is situated between 450 and 500 metres above sea level. At this altitude, the cooler temperatures and greater diurnal range allow the grapes to retain their natural acidity, with aromatics and fine flavours slowly developing well into the cool, dry autumn. The soils through Eden Valley are generally shallow, rocky and acidic, in many areas suited only to the grazing of sheep and cattle. There are special pockets with slightly deeper soils and finer rocks, where the vineyards have been planted.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Decanter - "Breathtakingly pure and energetic with a linear drive of focused lime fruit and a fine bead of sherbet zest acidity. Very long, concentrated and juicy."
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "This 2023 Single Vineyard Estate Riesling from Eden Valley is tight, mineral, spicy, super fine and lit up by a mainframe of acidity. Its exciting to drink; the texture is chalky and fine, and the flavors linger and curl through the finish like wisps of smoke. What a joy. Seriously. Great wine!"
