Winemaker Notes: The Pepe family have been growing grapes between the Adriatic Sea and the Appenine Mountains in Abruzzo since the late 1800’s. They work the vineyards biodynamically, producing soulful, old-school wines that taste as if they were from another age. Their takes on Trebbiano, Montelpulciano and more recently, Pecorino are nothing short of epic and are built to age.
Vinous - "Dark golden yellow. Chamomile, almond paste and candied orange peel on the bright, deep nose; the aroma profile is very similar to Valentini’s 2010 Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, if slightly less intense. Rich and ripe on the palate, but with razor-sharp lemony acidity lifting the white orchard and musky herbal flavors. Finishes multilayered and long. A serious Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, and one of the best ones Pepe has made in some time."
Wine Spectator - "Rich and layered, this lightly hazy white is medium-bodied and fresh, featuring flavors of steeped apricot, clover honey, singed orange peel, chamomile and dried herb. Finely meshed, with real verve carrying through to the zesty finish. Drink now through 2025. 2,333 cases made."
