Domaine Vieil Orme 'Gabriel' Brut Cremant de Loire
Winemaker Notes: A bouquet of white flowers with a beautiful aromatic complexity: acacia, lily, white fruits, melissa, apricot. Good freshness on the palate, very smooth with very delicate floral aromas and a long finish.
This family-owned domaine, located in a tiny Loire village St-Julien-de-Chédon, dates back to 1804. Since 2009, Laurent Benoist has been at the helm, focusing his efforts on sustainable farming and pure, terroir-driven wines. As a region, Touraine has the flexibility to plant a wide range of varieties, setting it apart from Vouvray, which only allows Chenin Blanc, or Sancerre, which only allows Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. In Touraine, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and a few other indigenous grapes are seen at much smaller production levels. This gives the region the freedom to be creative in their blends.
