Why Madeline Triffon, M.S. loves this wine: "Quality right out of the gate - what an aroma!  Dried and fresh lavender, blueberry jam, oak spice, black licorice, and dusty earth.  The palate follows beautifully, is nicely edgy and speaks to a future.  Carillon, “bells”, is the second label of an iconic Right Bank star, the Premier Grand Cru Classé “A” Château Angelus.  The estate name comes from the Angelus prayers, in a spot where you can hear bells from 3 churches."

Why Travis R. loves this wine: "When speaking of this wine, Marcel Lapierre says 'It’s a wine... that you drink like a beer... when you don’t really want to drink a beer.'" If you have had the pleasure of their exquisite Morgon, these grapes come from the same area, but are made in a manner that produces a fun & friendly fruity-forward style, while still maintaining complexity. Enjoy with a slight chill."

Why Tony D. loves this wine: "Vernaccia is the only DOCG white wine that hails from Tuscany and it is a perfect Spring/Summer sipper. Aromas of white flowers like germanium, magnolia, and spring wildflowers are supported by stony minerality (“calce” in Italian translates to lime and is referring to the limestone composition of the soil the grapes are grown in) and notes of peach, pear, and white pepper. Richly textured on the palate with plenty of freshness and balanced acidity. A very versatile wine with food but I usually like to pair this with spring pasta dishes or grilled seafood. Certified organic since 2012."

Why Michael F. loves this wine: Rich earthiness and a juicy red fruit acidity are framed by a rustic tannic. The varietal Touriga Nacional is so aromatically complex I could sit my nose in the glass for hours. 

Why Tony D. loves this wine: "A veritable pantheon of Piedmonte giants comprise this blend. Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto play the staring role but not to be outshined by the presence of some more esoteric varietals like Freisa and Albarossa. All separately vinified and blended after maturing, it shows a wonderfully fresh, but firm and serious Piedmonte red for a fantastic value. Red fruits like tart cherry and red raspberry are accompanied by incense, red flowers, and a distinct rustic earthy quality. Tannins are well incorporated on the palate along with fresh acidity and a heartiness that belies its color. Every time I have featured this wine at a tasting, it always sells out. It remains one of my favorite values in all of Italy and perhaps all the wine-growing world."

Why Michael F. loves this wine: Purple-black in the glass, the oak sings with notes of ripe black plum and cassis, all carried along with a velvety fine-grained tannin. Delish!
