Why Tony D. loves this wine: "A veritable pantheon of Piedmonte giants comprise this blend. Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto play the staring role but not to be outshined by the presence of some more esoteric varietals like Freisa and Albarossa. All separately vinified and blended after maturing, it shows a wonderfully fresh, but firm and serious Piedmonte red for a fantastic value. Red fruits like tart cherry and red raspberry are accompanied by incense, red flowers, and a distinct rustic earthy quality. Tannins are well incorporated on the palate along with fresh acidity and a heartiness that belies its color. Every time I have featured this wine at a tasting, it always sells out. It remains one of my favorite values in all of Italy and perhaps all the wine-growing world."

Madeline Triffon, M.S.: "A bright French Sauvignon Blanc, essence of the varietal. Pungent grapefruit, parsley, green apple, and a salty breeze on the nose. Sleek, citrusy palate with herbal flavors. Refreshing with lemon-lime acidity and a rocky soil impression."

Why Michael F. loves this wine: Rich earthiness and a juicy red fruit acidity are framed by a rustic tannic. The varietal Touriga Nacional is so aromatically complex I could sit my nose in the glass for hours. 

Why Madeline Triffon, M.S. Loves this Wine: Elegance alert!  Medium bodied, richly flavored with classic forest floor and cedar scents.  Lots of smooth tannins just asking for a simple steak with pommes frites (French fries!).  Hard to believe this quality for the price point… A large, gorgeous property that’s a stone’s throw from the A+ estates of Beychevelle, Gruaud Larose and Branaire-Ducru.  The owners have lobbied more than once to have their appellation changed to St-Julien.

Why Marc loves this wine: "Behind a color of white gold, we perceive typical fragrances of a young chardonnay, tiny white wallflowers. On the palate the richness of the fruit is present; the body is supported and balanced with oak, with a pleasant finish."
