2021 Babylonstoren 'Babel' Red Blend Western Cape
Winemaker Notes: Notes of succulent black fruit with a savory edge of cigar box and graphite on the palate , all held together beautifully with smooth tannins and a tightly knit structure. On the nose, crushed mulberry, blackberry, and plum flavors with well-judged oak maturation, adding layers of sweet spice, vanilla, and dark chocolate.
Blend of 48% Shiraz, 13% Merlot, 11% Petit Verdot, 11% Cabernet Franc, 10% Malbec, and 7% Pinotage.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "The first bottle was corked, but the second bottle of the 2021 Babel is red-fruited with dusty black plum with hints of red and purple flowers with a delightful mineral essence. Medium to full-bodied, flavors of black cherry, dusty blackberry and dusty flower petals mingle with notions of turned earth with a soft hint of potpourri. The wine has a spicy, mineral-driven finish and should drink decently until its fifth birthday."
