John Gilman - "The La Loge single parcel bottling is entirely made from Pinot Blanc Vrai, with its base year again 2017 and the wine bottled up for secondary fermentation in June of 2018. Like the Champ Viole, the perpetual reserve solera for this vineyard was started in 2011. These vines are fully eighty years of age! It was disgorged in April of 2021 after nearly three years aging sur latte, and was finished with a dosage again of three grams per liter. The bouquet is beautiful on this bottling, delivering scents of white peach, apple, brioche, fruit blossoms, limestone minerality and a nice, discreet touch of vanillin oak. The wine is full-bodied, focused and quite youthful still on the palate, with good depth at the core, frothy mousse, snappy acids and lovely focus and cut on the long, very promising finish. Aromatically, this bottling is already beautifully expressive, but it is still a bit too youthful on the palate for my tastes and really deserves a bit of bottle age to soften up and blossom properly. It will be delicious in due course."
