2019 Chateau de Pommard Clos Marey-Monge 'Grand Esprits' Pommard
Winemaker Notes: Ruby, violet-tinted color. Expressive nose with aromas of ripe black fruit, rose, and sweet spices. A generous and robust wine. Long and mineral finish brings a touch of elegance to this complex cuvee.
With its array of celebrated sun-soaked vineyards and captivating sights, the village of Pommard is surround by ageless, timeless beauty. At it's heart, is Chateau de Pommard, a historic estate established in the early 18th century. The estate's walled Clos Marey-Monge is a 20 hectare monopole and a UNESCO heritage protected Burgundy climat, cultivating century-old vines. The distinct, but complementary, terroirs are farmed biodynamically, naturally fermented, and aged separately, creating wines of complexity, power, and grace.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Wine Enthusiast - " The Grands Esprits has the highest limestone content of all the plots of Clos Marey-Monge and this supple, silky Pinot Noir with vibrant acidity and firm, angular tannins is a fantastic representation of this terroir. Red cherry and raspberry flavors are intensely ripe yet zesty, accented by tangs of tart blood orange and a deep granitic undertone. Approachable young, the wine is likely to improve through 2035 and hold further still."
