2015 Chateau La Clare Medoc
Winemaker Notes: Atypical for the Medoc, the vineyards of Chateau La Clare are planted 45% Merlot 35% Cabernet Sauvignon 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot because of the high proportion of clay in the soil. After fermentation the wine spends 12 months in French oak barriques, 60% new and 40% one year old. A soft approachable red with mixed red and black fruits with round and firm tannins.
Wine Enthusiast - "From an estate owned by Jean Guyon, this wine shows its trademark elegance. The tannins are developing well, beginning to soften into the luscious blackberry fruits. The wine needs more time to balance out, probably from 2022. "
