2016 Nino Negri Sfursat Carlo Negri Nebbiolo Lombardy
Winemaker Notes: With a garnet-brick color; the wine shows complex aromas of cloves, cinnamon and pepper with plum jam, raisins and tar notes. On the palate, the wine has a dry, warm, full-bodied character, austere from its prominent acidity yet harmonious, with an elegant finish, and roasted hazelnut and licorice traces.
Staff Pick: The opulence of Amarone meets the elegant complexity of Barolo! Nebbiolo has been cultivated in Valtellina, Lombardy for over 1,000 years. The grapes are hand-harvested and dried for 100 days before macerating for 12 days. Aged up to 2 years in French oak. Bravo!
Wine Enthusiast - "Graphite, underbrush, steeped prune and dark baking spice mingle with a whiff of pine resin. Reflecting the nose, the brawny palate offers fruit cake, baking spice and the warmth of alcohol framed in tightly knit, velvety tannins. Drink through 2026."
Wine Spectator - "A bright, mouthwatering red, this is medium- to full-bodied and tightly knit, marrying sculpted tannins to flavors of wild cherry coulis and raspberry fruit, with notes of dried herb and rose hip. A skein of smoky mineral and peppery spice slowly unspools on the grippy finish. Best from 2021 through 2027."
