Trefethen 'HaLo' Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Vertical 2014, 2015, 2016
*Sold as 3pk vertical of 2014, 2015, 2016*
Winemaker Notes: HaLo, Trefethen's most rare and beloved Cabernet Sauvignon, is smooth and fresh. Aromas of ripe raspberry with notes of pepper, bay leaf, and a touch of sasparilla. On the palate, this is a dark, dense wine, with layers of plum and raspberry, and notes of baking spices and tobacco. The finish is sustained and powerful. This robust wine pairs exceptionally well with highly marbled steak, like Winery Chef Chris’ Tomahawk Ribeye. This cut of meat is both dramatic and well-balanced and enhances the peppery berry notes of this wine, while the fat elongates its finish. Throw in the roasted potatoes and spinach to round out this dish, and this pairing will take your palate over the moon!
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
2016:
Connoisseurs' Guide - "A perennial winner in the *** Cabernet sweepstakes, Trefethen’s latest HaLo bottling again finds its accustomed place at the head of the class and ranks among the richest and deepest Napa Valley Cabernets from what is an altogether outstanding vintage. It is lavish stuff, to be sure, but it is impeccably balanced for a wine of its richness with great varietal authority, and it steps up to the plate and hits a towering home run. There is simply so much going on here that it will be hard to resist it even now, but do find a place for it well back in cellar and allow it the seven to ten years of age it deserves."
2015:
James Suckling - "Blackberries and spice with hints of hazelnuts and walnuts. Medium to full body. Creamy tannins. Currant and berry undertones. Drink or hold."
