2017 Albert Bichot 'Les Sorbets 1er Cru' Morey-Saint-Denis
Winemaker Notes: On the nose, our Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru "The Sorbets" is redolent of wild sour cherry with notes of leather and a hint of oak. It acquires more complex aromas with animals and spicy nuances when allowed to age. Well balanced on the palate and endowed with superb structure boasting flavors of red berries and liquorice. The finish is generous and deliciously fruity.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
James Suckling - "A very elegant, mid-weight Morey-Saint-Denis that has the fragrance (forest flowers and berries) and finesse of this appellation, combined with restrained power that propels the long, polished finish. Try in 2022."
Burghound - "A much more subtle but not invisible dollop of oak easily allows the fresh and layered mix of various red berry fruit that displays floral and soft spice top notes. The beautifully textured, sleek and lightly mineral-inflected flavors possess better depth and a more persistence as well. This balanced effort should be approachable young but offer mid-term cellaring as well. Barrel Sample: 89-92"
Wine Spectator - "Well-constituted, with black cherry and blackberry flavors and touches of violet, earth and sweet spices. This red offers a broad profile. Balanced and long, showing moderate density on the finish. Drink now through 2030."
