2018 Tua Rita Giusto di Notri IGT Tuscany

Winemaker Notes: Deep purple in color, Giusto di Notri offers abundant aromas of blackberry, plum and currants with underpinnings of coriander, violet and a touch of vanilla. Full-bodied, with ripe, fine tannins, and a silky texture, this is a stunning wine with great aging potential.

Soil: Strongly clayey with medium-high presence of skeleton. In the higher vineyards there is more skeleton, in the lower ones more silt. In the central zone, where the Merlot vines are planted, there is more clay.

Ageing: About 18 months in French barriques of first passage and second step; bottled in summer it is left to rest in the bottle for a few months before being released on the market.

10% Cabernet Franc, 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot

The wine offers smooth transition and rich textural fiber, with soft angles and contours that frame the wine's full-bodied approach. Production is 33,000 bottles."

Decanter - "This 2018 Giusto dei Notri seems delightfully Cabernet Franc-like, although that variety is usually the minor player in the blend. Intense cassis and leafy notes intertwine, while on the palate more concentrated blackcurrant, green herb, elegant cedar and sweet spice flavours mingle with iron and mineral notes. I love the slightly sappy Bordeaux-like notes here and there. A beautifully elegant and persistent wine."
