2019 Boroli 'Cerequio' Barolo
Winemaker Notes: Only a few producers have the honor of bottling the Cerequio Cru. The vineyard stretches across two opposing slopes, which together create an easily recognizable basin. The area is characterized by an extraordinary microclimate: called “Riviera delle Langhe” by the veterans.
The area is magnificently exposed, with a constant ventilation that keeps the grapes healthy. The soil is sandy with abundant moisture content and clay. The quality of wine is incredibly unvaried: each year, the vineyard gives us a great Barolo wine for ageing, thanks to its acidity and vibrant structure. Boroli’s Barolo Cerequio stands for elegance and refinement.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - " The Boroli 2019 Barolo shows a dark garnet appearance that denotes more concentration and fruit extraction. The bouquet reveals rich fruit flavors, grilled herb and plenty of spice. This is a modern take on the Nebbiolo grape in which fruit maturity and oak aging is more evident in the overall results. This is an accessible Barolo to drink in the near and medium term. Production is 15,000 bottles."
James Suckling - "A medium-bodied Barolo with subtle notes of red berries, dried citrus peel, nutmeg and beeswax. Medium-bodied, tense and vivid with chalky tannins and bright acidity. Very polished with good energy. Try after 2025."
Wine Spectator - "An elegant red, with cherry, raspberry and kirsch notes matched by menthol and mint flavors. Supple, with light, somewhat sinewy tannins emerging on the fresh finish. Approachable now, but will be better in a year or two. Drink now through 2038. 1,500 cases made."
Decanter - "This bright ruby Barolo features smoky woodland aromas, with strawberry fruit and darker dried prunes in depth, accompanied by some black pepper and tar. Quite surprisingly it's soft on the palate, with refreshing acidity and a distinct orange aftertaste. A tamed young Barolo; very approachable already."
