2019 Chateau La Dauphine Fronsac
Winemaker Notes: The Chateau de La Dauphine 2019 displays a dense and deep color in the glass. The nose expresses aromas of black fruits, which dominate the bouquet and are balanced with floral fragrances. On the palate, the wine reveals crunchy fruit and a great finesse. The Chateau de La Dauphine 2019 is a structured and delicate wine, offering a beautiful and faithful representation of the Fronsac appellation.
This 2019 vintage was very peaceful at Chateau de La Dauphine. After a mild winter and a rainy spring, summer temperatures hit record highs. This exceptional climate combined with the viticultural strategies of Chateau de La Dauphine to ensure excellent health. The light precipitation in September allowed the fruit to ripen and produce a significant volume of juice, just in time for the very tranquil, healthy harvest.
Vinous - "The 2019 de La Dauphine has a superb nose with pure blackberry, boysenberry, and crushed stone aromas, hints of iris and violet emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, grainy tannins, fine depth and an unerring sense of symmetry on the finish. Yet another freat Fronsac (92-94pts)"
James Suckling - "This is a solid, structured red with blackberry and licorice aromas and flavors. Full-bodied with chewy tannins and a rich finish. Really well framed and structured. (92-93pts)"
Decanter - "La Dauphine continues its strong showing of the past few vintages here. Absolutely packed full of blackberry and cassis fruits, clear salinity and slate minerality on the finish, juicy and well held together, giving plenty of personality but still managing to convey that it’s holding stuff back for future development. A yield of 40h/ha. Certified organic, aged in 30% new oak."
Jeb Dunnuck - "Cassis, violets, spicy oak and wildflower notes all emerge from the 2019 Château de La Dauphine, a medium-bodied beauty with a wonderful sense of purity and elegance, good acidity, and outstanding length. It is not massive but shows the finesse and balance of 2019 vintage. (90-92pts)"
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "From holdings largely located on the continuation of Canon-Fronsac's limestone plateau in the appellation of Fronsac, the 2019 de la Dauphine has turned out nicely, delivering notions of cassis, plums, licorice, spices and raw cocoa, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively palate with powdery tannins and a bright core of fruit."
