2019 Tassajara Pinot Noir Monterey
Winemaker Notes: Tassajara Pinot Noir comes from the sustainably certified vineyards of the Scheid Family located in Monterey. The Scheid Family is proud of their contributions to sustainability and in 2019 won the coveted California Green Medal Environmental Award. The name Tassajara comes from the famed Tassajara Hot Springs, where legend has it the Indigenous peoples would go for renewing spiritual energy. In fact, speaking of renewing, the Scheid Family Winery uses 100% renewable energy in the form of Wind Powered Turbines! The vineyards benefit from the cool climate and maritime influences from the Monterey Bay, as well as the surrounding mountains which serve to make this a unique micro-climate.
Made from 100% estate grown grapes, Tassajara Pinot Noir is a delightful expression of the terroir, with its soft, lush, ripe notes of blackberry jam, hints of cocoa and a touch of spice.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Wine Enthusiast - "There's a touch of game on the nose of this affordable and complex bottling, which also shows aromas of smoked berry, clove and garam masala. Roasted strawberry and red plum meet with game, orange rind, herbs and cracked pepper on the well-seasoned palate."
